The challenge is to determine best possible decisions, while ensuring that the cost of protection remains limited. Modern data-driven approaches are on the rise that estimate the relevant uncertainties by an analysis of historical data. DC5 studies distributionally robust optimisation of planning processes in complex systems that repeat over time. As main application, the operation of sustainable electricity networks with uncertain renewables will be studied, and later transferred to similar settings in green logistics. Algorithms over time will be researched that start with optimising energy management with a data-based uncertainty estimate. Iteratively, the goal is to integrate more information on the underlying uncertainties in energy generation and energy consumption by analysing incoming data, together with updating the best possible decisions efficiently. Convergence of the novel algorithms shall be proven. DC5 can build upon a novel framework for distributional robustness over time from FAU. Methodology: literature research on distributional robustness and online learning, development of practically efficient global algorithms for learning optimal uncertainty protection over time, specification for energy management. Research on obtainable quality guarantees, validation of the novel approaches on realistic benchmarks, recommendations for energy management.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Expected Results:<\/strong> new methodologies for data-driven uncertainty protection over time, theoretical insights into obtained quality guarantees, novel approaches for sustainable energy management in electricity networks over time, recommendations<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Planned secondment:<\/strong> 3 months at UNIBO (E. Malaguti) at the end of the 1st year to learn about robust data analysis; 2 months at EDF (W.
